As the title suggests, this post is about why girls are always expected to be pretty right from the time they are born.
It starts with the people who come to the hospital saying "Aww, the girl is so cute and pretty" !!!!!!!
From that time, she is expected to dress up so that she looks pretty.
Recently, our neighbor gave birth to a baby girl. We went to the hospital to congratulate the parents on the arrival of their new bundle of joy.
To my surprise, the mother, grandmother and the grandfather of the baby girl were not happy with her complexion as her mother is very fair compared to the baby. Whereas the father of the same girl was very happy irrespective of the complexion of the little girl..
Phew.. I could already sense the problems she is going to face at the home as the days pass... This situation not only saddened me but warned me about the future of many such little girls...!! :(
There's a friend of mine, who's working as an Hr for a multinational company earning a 5 digit salary.
Her parents want her to get married like any other middle class parents who want to fulfill their responsibilities. They started looking for a guy. Finally they zeroed onto a guy who earns less than my friend.
She didn't like guy, the only reason she accepted him was because she has been rejected previously due to her complexion ...!! *Sigh* :(
There are many such alarming situations increasing in our society today ...I think Parents should be "fair" enough to raise the girl without giving importance to their "fairness"... That is why they say evrything should start at home.. :) !!
